First Hong Kong Service

Hi all

Note: hello I will be posting a incomplete post for bow due certain events. I will be posting about what ever happen on this trip. The rest when I arrive home. I promise to complete all of it within 2 days of arrivibg

Sorry for not posting a lot. Most likely I will be doing a post about October 2-5 later. Right now I am going to cover the service. The link below is the version recorded by my dad. Just note the video and sound quality is horrible and i don't know when the service starts because the video is 3 hours long.

Recording of the First Hong Kong Service

For me I was never in that hall the entire time I was at Munsang.

My family and I first arrived at around 10am to Munsang to help set up. The first place we went to was the Indoor Playground. During the week this has been the place that we did the most activities. In the Indoor playground all the volunteer sorted the toys, supplies, and candy in that room. This was going to be the room where the children aged 6-12 will and was doing most of the main activities. We started to take out all of the supplies from the place they were stored to set up the classrooms. There were 5 different age groups. The first one, 0-2 years old was on the first floor. The 3-5 were the second floor and the 6-7,8-10,11-12 classes were on the third floor. We set up two rooms for 3-5 because we expected all of kids in that age group.

We finished all of the setting up rather early. It was okay for me during the set up. I did not really like the fact that me and another volunteer had to run back and forth from the storage which was on the other side of Munsang Collage. It was really hot too.

At about 11:30 all the volunteers from all departments went up to the chapel, which was in another building. We met there together and prayed so that the service will happen with without to much trouble. Afterword everyone went back to their place they were setting up/working/helping. The children ministry workers went to what in the states Saddleback Church calls "Pregame" which is when the leaders get together to talk about the day's rundown, pray and eat. It was really funny when the people from the US saw what we had to eat for pregame. REALLY FANCY CAKE!!!!!!! My brother said that they people who brought them were spoiling us. We had lunch at around 12:30 and everyone came to eat. Finished eating at around 1:30pm. There were many leaders who helping out from other churches who arrived after we finished eating. Muar reassigned leaders to their room and gave final instructions. I was assigned to the 6-7 age group.

All of the leaders went to their rooms at around 2pm. About ten minutes later the kids started to arrive in a huge torrent. There were many kids that came. Our count of kids when we went to the Indoor Playground was 35 kids in the 6-7 group. In the Indoor Playground

Hong Kong Trip Update

Hi,

Please only use my blog name when commenting. This is for safety reason thank
you.

The Kids
Now to business. Sorry about not posting for the last two days. I will try to make up for it. Two days ago, which was the 30th, my family and I went back to Munsang Collage to do some sort of promotional thing with the kindergarten classes there.  We thought it would be an half an hour class with at most 40 students. Instead it ended up being ten minutes on a stage with more than 400 kids. We ended up doing twice because there was a morning and afternoon school for the two groups of kindergarten kids. During both of them we danced and sang to the song "Father Abraham". For the afternoon session we were join by Pricilla and Juliette who were also the US and were helping out with the Children Ministry in Saddleback Hong Kong. Auntie Muar Muar(Pronounced "more") , who is the children director for Saddleback Hong Kong, also came.

After we finished the second session at the collage, all of us including Pricilla, Juliette and Auntie Muar Muar went back to the place we were staying. For the net few hours Pricilla, Juliette, My mom and Auntie Muar Muar talk about what was going to happen at the children ministry during the first official service for Saddleback Hong Kong. They talked and talked and talk for about four hours or more. Pricilla, Juliette and Auntie Muar Muar eft after that. My family and I were too tired to move after they left. We all napped for about half an hour then went out to Mac Donald to eat. Then we went back and slept. I had tried to blog that day but my brain was to foggy to do anything.

Beijing Airport pt. 2 & Arrival in Hong Kong & First Day

Hi again

Okay, this is going to be a very long post. Have to cover a lot of stuff plus there are a few pics. There will be a page break in this post. So please be aware of that. Sorry I couldn't post earlier I have been to tired to post. Also sorry for my extremely bad grammar.
View outside Beijing Airport

First let's start with Beijing Airport. After my post ended earlier we went around looking a place to eat. The place that we wanted to eat had just ended something that my parents wanted to eat so we did not eat there. Instead we just got a sandwich for me and sort of curry dish for dad since mom and Simon ate earlier. We found a place to eat next to a working power station. There were really interesting vending machine in the airport and I got a drink from it. We went down to our gate after a while. We sat there for an hour before boarding the plane.

Vending Machines
Pear Drink
Tangle of Cords

In the airplane, I got a allergic reaction to some peanuts in the food during the flight. For those who don't know I have a high allergy to any sort of peanuts and it could potentially send me to the hospital if i don't take a allergy medicine. I survived and am doing well right now.

In Beijing Airport

HIYA!!!
KINDLE_CAMERA_1378399505000.jpg
Strawberry Soy Milk! MINE!

FINALLY I CAN BLOG!!!! Sorry for not posting just before the flight. I was too tired and getting onto the plane was a little crazy. Our flight was actually 13 hours not 18. it is over 18 hours including the time on the next flight. For anyone who would like to know the plane was a B777 and both flights are with Air China.

Currently waiting during our seven hour layover...nothing much to do. It has been a chore to fine anything working well in the airport. The internet is pretty bad in some of the airport and many of the power plugs don't work. Dad just got back after finding a few more that worked. On top of that in China apparently "Blogger" which is the site i use to blog is blocked in China. I am pretty luck that my dad found another way to get me into blogger or else there would not be a update until I arrived a Hong Kong.

Flight was fun. I slept through most of it. Finally got top watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I also watch NCIS. I watch a bunch of other stuff too. My sickness didn't really affect me to much on the flight which i think is rather amazing. I am still slightly sick and it comes and goes.

Had a rather interesting incident at the screenings. Twice we got stopped for something we had in our bags. It was the same thing each time that cause us to get recheck. You know what it was???? COFFEE!!!! Really funny. Apparently the senors thought that the coffee was something dangerous. The first time we got stopped because of the coffee the guard could not open the bag because the bag it was in was tied with a rather complicated not. The guard kinda gave up and my dad said just to ripe it open. The second time the guard just looked at it and put it back into the bags.

Going to have to be going for now. (YES I KNOW, bad grammer)

Well SEEYA!

Book Opening

Hi, Posting the first couple paragraphs of the draft of a prologue of a book I am writing. Please given comments and tell me if you want more.

Prologue
                In the dark alleyway, two teenagers walked side by side away from the busy street and into a dark alleyway. Their features were shadowed by the light behind them. On the opposite end of the alley, another teenager barely a few years approached them. This older teen had light brown hair and had a black cap that was pulled down low to cover his eyes. Both of his hands were tucked deep in the pockets of his black leather jacket. Around his neck hung a leather cord with a bronze charm in the shape of a hawk that gleamed dully. They all stopped in the middle and turned so that their backs faced opposite walls. The light now shone on the younger teens revealing a girl with semi-long black hair and a boy with slightly long, white-blonde hair. The older boy pushed back his hat to reveal his dark green eyes.

Creative Writing: Tale of Pirates and Others

Another one of my blog post of the MV Teen Voice. This was published August 26, 2013. Original Location: http://mvlteenvoice.com/2013/08/26/story-poem-one-tale-of-pirates-and-others/
One Tale of Pirates and Others
The cold wind blew as the stars came out;
The blue shining waves tossed about.
The full moon glowed as many clouds went past;
The moon’s light went up a tall ship’s mast.
On the ship’s mast flew Davey Jones’s banner;
The ship’s side had the name Pirate Manor.
Onto the ship deck, rum boxes were had;
Soon the entire ship’s crew became drunk and mad.
The captain ordered the bobbing ship to land,
While the men held rum in their hand.
The ship stopped at an empty, deserted beach;
Pirates clambered off and for another bottle they reached.

Creative Writing: Destruction of Charn

Another one of my blog post of the MV Teen Voice. This time though it is a story I wrote based off the Chronicles of Narnia. This was published August 14, 2013. Original Location: http://mvlteenvoice.com/2013/08/14/creative-writing-destruction-of-charn/

Destruction of Charn

Rosemary and her older twin brother, William, ran up to the attic of their grandma’s house. They had finally gotten permission to explore. They scrambled up the rickety ladder that led to the dark, dry attic. Inside of the attic, there were boxes filled with books, old toys, pieces of dilapidated furniture, and many other odd items here and there. Both William and Rosemary started to rummage through all if the boxes, searching for anything that seemed interesting. One particular box caught Rosemary’s eye. The box was not a plain wooden or cardboard box. The box was sealed tightly shut and covered with strange shapes and designs. It was slightly smaller than a microwave oven.  Intrigued by the sight, Rosemary cautiously crept over to the box and tried to open it. First she tried tugging at the top; then, she found a metal latch that kept it shut. Rosemary carefully undid the latch and warily opened the box. She decided to call her brother over before further investigating the box.
“Will, come over here,” she called, “I want to show you something.”
Will hastily scrambled over.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Look at what I found.”
Both of them peered into the box. The contents of the box were rather odd. Inside, there was a beautiful white, silk dress. On top of the dress lay a heavy golden crown that had crimson jewels set into it. William picked up the crown and placed it next to the box while, Rosemary was taking out the dress and folding it next to the box. There was nothing else in the box except for a few pieces of jewelry and a package that was wrapped in some sort of beige colored cloth. William picked up the package and started to unwrap it.  Inside of the package was a worn leather-bound book. On the cover, the title was written in bold lettering. The title was “The Destruction of Charn.”
“What a weird title,” commented Rosemary. “Hey, William, why don’t you read it out loud? Hello? William, are you listening to me?”
“Hmm,” replied Will, who was opening the book.
“William! Read it out loud,” ordered Rosemary, “William, are you listening to me?”
William gave a contemptuous glance to his sister and answered, “Fine.”
William began to read…

Book Review: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis

Here is another book review for the MV Teen Voice. Published July 31st, 2013. Original Location: http://mvlteenvoice.com/2013/07/31/book-review-the-lion-the-witch-and-the-wardrobe-by-c-s-lewis-2/

Book Review: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis

narnia_cover
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a compelling story that is filled with fantasy, adventure, and plenty of space for imagination.
It was written by the extolled author C.S. Lewis, published in 1950, and dedicated to Lewis’s goddaughter, Lucy Barfied. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was a part of a book series that would be come to be known as the Chronicles of Narnia. This story at the beginning is set in England during World War II. Then it takes the main characters, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy, to another world called Narnia.
In the book, there are many incredible creatures, animals, and people such as the jaunty fauns, elated dryads, serene naiads, talking beavers, and amiable Father Christmas. Because they are there, an element of magic is added to the story. It shows the readers that not only humans have to be in control.  C.S. Lewis also shows some of the Christian beliefs and the story of Jesus Christ because Aslan represents Jesus Christ. When Aslan dies to save Edmund, it is like how  Jesus died to save the people on Earth. Also, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe tells the about having compassion and forgiving others.  This is shown when the Pevensies Children forgive Edmund for betraying them to the White Witch. Incredibly, Aslan goes to die in Edmund’s place, which shows how Aslan had compassion for Edmund, even though he is perfectly innocent.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has much fantasy and adventure that allows to reader to explore their imagination while they read an amazing story.

Manga Introduction: Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto

Here is the next post I had on the MV Teen Blog. This one is going to be apart of a series of reviews I was going to do.  Just Fyi for any review I post on here, I will link it to the previous posts if they are a series. This one was posted on July 23rd, 2013. Original Location: http://mvlteenvoice.com/2013/07/23/manga-introduction-naruto-by-masashi-kishimoto/

Manga Introduction: Naruto, by Masashi Kishimoto

naruto_coverThis was my first ever manga I ever read. This is the manga series that got me hooked into the word of manga. Since then I have learned about many more.

Here are a few facts about Naruto:
  • Naruto was first published in September of 1999. It quickly became popular and now remains as one of the top 5 most popular manga in the world.
  • There are over 60 tankobon volumes(Manga books) each containing about 8-10 chapters per book. Each chapter is a full set of about 18-20 pages of black and white drawings.
  • Every week Naruto’s publisher magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, publishes one chapter of Naruto.
  • Naruto, due to its popularity, has two anime series, both featuring over 200 episodes.
As you can see, Naruto is a rather large and popular manga series. In this manga series, ninjas are the ones who have most power in the land where the series happens. The series mainly focuses on Naruto Uzumaki, who is the main character. There are also many incredible main supporting characters.

The site I am writing for is actually a good place to find reviews about a lot of books. Well Seeya!

Book Review: First Test, By Tamora Pierce

Hey Guys! Going to start post the reviews I write for the Mission Viejo Teen Voice Blog! Here is the first one! Published on July 8th, 2013. Original Location: http://mvlteenvoice.com/2013/07/08/book-review-first-test-by-tamora-pierce/

Book Review: First Test, By Tamora Pierce
Girls trying to be knights are not a new idea but, in the book, First Test, Tamora Pierce brings a whole new twist to it. The book is about the first year of Keladry of Mindelan’s page years as she works to become accepted for deciding to become the 2nd female knight in the medieval and fantastic realm,Tortall.
firsttest_coverFirst Test is the first book of the Protector of the Small Quartet by Tamora Pierce. This series is only one of the many series that she has written.
The First Test is about Keladry of Mindelan, who is known as Kel, first year as a page. Kel tries to prove to pages’ training master, Lord Wyldon that she can do just as well as the other boys in training. Many people are against girls becoming knights and so she receives much pressure. On top of that she has to deal with the fact that she was raised in another part of the realm and has to adjust to the completely different Tortall culture. Her friend Nealan “Neal” of Queenscove helps her along the way.
First Test is a well written book. There is plenty of adventure and action in the story. The characters are well-developed and are believable. Kel, the main character, is not someone who seems unbelievably lucky or powerful. She in her own way does have fault and fears. This makes her connect more with the reader. This is the same with most of the characters. The author also incorporates things from other real life cultures and traditions.  Most authors who write in a medieval times setting usually take their ideas from Europe. Pierce actually incorporated some of the parts of the African culture and the Japanese culture into her story. This makes the story more interesting since there are more perspectives to see the story.
Overall this book is great for anyone who wants to have a strong girl protagonist as the main character. This has action and adventure as well. It might seem like a school story at first due to the very school like atmosphere of the page training but there is a whole lot more to it. The complete series itself, I would only recommend to older readers because it does deal with the maturing of girls, the changes they go through, and love. This is because of the growing age of the main character. This book is a good read for anyone, but there series is better for older readers. This is only my opinion. So read it for yourself and decide.
-Kirikaze Kylini
I wrote this! Anyway going to continue posting ing some of my other ones. Maybe I might do a story just on this blog!
